PRICE - With big play capability and a stout defense, the Carlisle Indians were a slight favorite entering Friday's with Mount Enterprise.
However, when the dust settled, the Wildcats had silenced the Carlisle faithful.
Mount Enterprise rolled up 27 first half points en route to a shocking 33-13 blowout of previously undefeated Carlisle at Indians Stadium.
Both teams came into the District 20-A opener with 5-0 records.
The Wildcats are now 6-0 overall and 1-0 in district play while the Indians drop to 5-1 overall and 0-1 in loop play.
Mount Enterprise entertains No. 10 ranked Joaquin, a 38-22 victor over Beckville, in another battle of district unbeatens Friday.
The Indians must regroup from just their third loss in the last 18 games when they host Overton Friday. The Mustangs lost to Tenaha this week.
“We played a great game tonight,” Mount Enterprise coach Louie Johnson said of his Wildcats.
Reggie King took his second carry for 58 yards and Xavier Bryant tacked on his first of two touchdowns in just four plays as the Wildcats jumped to a quick lead.
Bryant also helped the Wildcats' defense wreak havoc on the Carlisle offensive line, forcing Indians' quarterback Cannon Coleman to throw two interceptions in the game.
Mt. Enterprise forced a total of four turnovers on the night, taking one back for a touchdown.
Tonight was also the debut of a new wrinkle in the Mt. Enterprise offense as its passing game took center stage.
Quarterback Larry Solomon hit his first pass to Blake King for 68 yards and a touchdown and finished the night with 193 yards on just 7-of-11 passing.
His other touchdown pass would go to Anthony Lewis, who would account for 64 of those receiving yards.
Anthony Moore would haul in four passes for 122 yards and added another 11 yards on the ground.
Riley Seider again led the Indians rushing attack with 87 yards on 29 carries and accounted for both Carlisle touchdowns.
He came into the contest with 913 yards on the ground and now has scored 15 touchdowns on the year.
Coleman would finish the night with 127 yards on 5-of-16 passing with the two interceptions.
“I'm always worried about how we're going to play, but tonight we did great. Coach (Rocky) Baker always has his guys prepared and ready to play so I'm glad this one's over with. Now it's time to worry about Joaquin.”
