Second Graders learn about healthy eating habits

The students in Mrs. Duncan’s Health class recently learned about healthy eating habits.  They listened and acted out stories about a dinosaur named Little D; who did not know about the five food groups.  The dinosaur came to live in the “Pyramid Palace” where the “Royal Food Family” taught him about the importance of eating healthy and exercising.

When the theme was over Mrs. Duncan came up with a class project for a review. The second graders colored healthy foods and then placed them in the correct triangle on the big food pyramid.

As they placed them on the pyramid the students had to:

- tell the name of the food
- announce what food group it belonged to
- name the nutrients in the food
- tell what part of the body that food helped grow strong and healthy.

Second grade wanted to share their project with everyone, so it is hanging in the lunchroom for all of Mt. Enterprise students, faculty, and staff to enjoy.  Remember, (even though we may want them at all times) “Fats come last!”
